She now is loved and spoiled by Kathleen. She bought Kayla and mostly rides
her on the trails. She lives at Helga's barn with Helga's 2 goats Starbuck
and Soda.
New pictures of Kayla and her goat
friends below.
"Kayla" was Sheryl's horse in the beginning of this. She traded Kayla to a gal in Oregon for a palomino weanling stud colt. Shortly after the trade, the gal emailed Sheryl that the horse was vicious, ran off with her on the trail and tried to attack her friend on her horse. Sheryl told her to take her to the round pen and spend some time "bonding" with her, she's a sensitive horse. The next email says she ran her for 2 hours straight and Kayla came at her with her teeth bared. Well, wouldn't you if you were run for 2 hours? She said either Sheryl would need to buy her back and come to Oregon to get her, or she was going to the meat auction that Friday. She wouldn't sell this horse to anyone, she was going to hurt somebody. So we borrowed the money and picked her up. Poor girl LEAPED in the trailer, I think she wanted to come home. The place was a terrible dump anyway. I worked with her for awhile to get over some new "issues" she'd gotten from who knows what kind of treatment by this woman. In playing with her and riding Kayla on trail rides, Kathleen decided she might like to buy her. Several payments later, Kayla is now Kathleen's little pony! We trail ride her on a loose rein. She doesn't run off and isn't vicious by any means. Biggest problem is one of her hind feet. She would NOT let us pick out or trim. So, a year later we can now trim that foot but she still doesn't like it. Kayla is spoiled like the rest, and sweet as can be.
New picture of Kayla May 31, 2009. She is such a beautiful girl, such a great little trail horse. Kathleen is working towards showing her in Helga's dressage schooling show in August, Intro Level. Will try to get pictures of her at that show and post. Hopefully get some more before that.
Here's her friends that live in her pasture with her.
