Sadly Mindy has been put down on May 12, 2009. She lived with her pasture mate Jet for the last several years, she was happy and well cared for. Mindy was getting weak in her hindquarters, and was having trouble with one fetlock joint, it was getting pretty weak as well. Jet had to be put down due to colic, Grandpa decided we could put down Mindy at the same time, these 2 mares were so very bonded, we didn't want to stress her out and have her colic later in the day too. So, Mindy and Jet have crossed the Rainbow Bridge together, and now run free on endless green pastures. Mindy will be missed terribly along with Jet. They were special horses.

Mindy in her day was shown in just about any event you can think of, from English and Western Pleasure classes to jumping, to the calf roping arena and gaming events. She's one of the nicest horses I've dealt with, no bad habits or annoying vices. She's nice enough to share her little pasture with my mare Jet right now, they are up at Ray Decker's house up the road from my house. I hop on her and take her for a short trail ride every now and then, she's pretty spunky now after being out in the field for a year. She lived at Black Raven Stables for about 10 years or more. After her show career ended, she was used as a lesson horse there by one of the trainers. Then they left the barn, so I would go brush her now and then, and let her out in the arena to play or ride her for a little bit for exercise. She was a bit stiff from not moving around much, so I was pleased when I got to bring her home to the pasture. She walks without any stiffness at all now, having to move all the time to graze! I've never been a fan of keeping a horse in a small box most of the time, she's a good example of why.
